   MTE 68D
   Record Amplifier

SONIC PERFORMANCE THAT RIVALS THE FINEST DIGITAL SYSTEMS FROM YOUR MAGNA-TECH.

The Magna Tech 68D record amplifier provides Magna-Tech recorders with outstanding setup speed, stability, and audio performance.

MTE Products are known for their pursuit of the highest quality audio products. MTE manufactures the 68D for un-compromised recording performance approaching theoretical limits. For example, the record head itself is part of a true constant current servo loop, resulting in a ruler flat frequency response and truly outstanding transient response. The design maximizes headroom and minimizes noise and distortion for extremely wide dynamic range. When combined with our high performance 69D electronics upgrade, and used with Dolby SR, overall sonic quality rivals or exceeds the most expensive digital systems. The sound is exceptionally clean and clear.

Three instant recall setups eliminate setup time for most common format changes.

For example, setups for 3 stripe, 4 stripe, and 6-stripe heads can be pre-adjusted and instantly selected when head-stacks are changed. All setup adjustments are on the front panel and consist of equalization, bias, "in" time and "out" time. High quality potentiometers make settings extremely stable and repeatable.

Record equalization is continuously adjustable from the panel.

Innovative "sliding shell" controls have the flexibility and range to properly equalize virtually any film stock, including newer high output types, running at 16mm or 35mm speeds. The flat, extended response minimizes generation buildup errors.

Ultra stable in/out timing and bias current eliminates time-wasting re-trimming or retakes due to drift.

Circuits use stable polypropylene film capacitors, metal film resistors, and precision components for stability and repeatability far in excess of the previous C series of MTE Recording and reproducing circuits. Bias and erase envelopes are tightly controlled for quiet, transient-free "punch in" and "punch out".

Installation is quick and easy to minimize downtime.

Since the 68D is made specifically for MTE systems there are no connectors to rewire and a six track retrofit can be completed in under 20 minutes. The 68D are not interchangeable with older B & C model MTE units Electronically although mechanically it is. Thus you must purchase these units in complete sets. Purchase 4 units for a 4-track recorder 6 for a six-track recorder and so on. MTE will accept in trade your older B& C units and will give a credit for each complete and functional unit returned to the factory. Consult with the Sales department for details on this money saving program. All units include optional built in sync playback with three gains and EQ presets, which are automatically selected in tandem with record.

Performance you can count on.

MTE ‘S 68D Record Amplifier represents the best way to improve the sound quality and extend the life of your Magna-Tech investment. Backed by the company's 35+ year reputation for reliability and integrity the 68D, like all other MTE products, delivers high performance and exceptional value.

NOTES:

1. These specifications characterize the electronic audio path from "Record Input" to "Record Output" current.  A 7 mH dummy head is used during measurements to eliminate possible distortions caused by magnetic saturation of a real record head. A typical reference current of 235 uA RMS for 1 85 nwb/m recorded fluxivity is assumed.

2. Reference 0 dB = 235 uA RMS head current at 1 kHz. This value produces a recorded fluxivity 185nw/m with a typical head and film stock.
